With summer winding down, we thought we would share some of our favorite end outdoor activities with our readers. Whether you have been saving your paid time off until the end of summer, or you are looking for the perfect weekend day trip, we have you covered! We can promise you one thing, you won’t know which activity to do first!

Pocono Mountains

I bet you thought I was going to say the Jersey Shore, didn’t you! Well, the Pocono Mountains is a bit cooler which is much needed on these hot hot summer days. With everything from kayaking and canoeing to waterparks and ropes courses, there is something for everyone.

Not the “outdoorsy” or athletic type? Don’t worry! The Pocono Mountains has different ways to enjoy a leisurely afternoon. You can enjoy a trolley ride tour through the historic town of Jim Thorpe. The trolley tour is hop-on/hop-off so you can enjoy the sites at your leisure. Also be sure to check out the assortment of restaurants and pubs. You can also take a train ride on the Lehigh Gorge Scenic Railway. Since the scenery is ever changing in the mountains, you will never see the same view twice!

Tubing down the Delaware River

This is a popular attraction for many people. Don’t worry because there are numerous launch points and plenty of companies that offer tubbing down the Delaware. One of our favorites is Bucks County River Country. You are able to book online (which is the preferred method) and reserve the amount of people and hours you would like. If you have little ones, you can tie the inner tubes together, so no one wonders off. Be sure to book in advance because it sells out quickly on Saturdays!

Parish Events

I have been noticing over the past couple of weeks different events happening at local parishes. You can participate in aerobics, church carnivals, wine and food pairings, and even some hospitality breakfasts after mass have returned. Be sure to sign up for these events before they sell out for the season!

As you can see, Fall will be here before we know it. Enjoy the long daylight hours while you still can and take advantage of some of these fun activities.
