Last week I received an email from a travel company that I used pre-COVID. Exploring their different trips put the bug in me to start travelling again. They stated that “human connection is in crisis” and “collective isolation” has kept us apart. Reconnecting is what the doctor has ordered. We are happy that many of our parishes agree. Here are some of the events they wrote to us about after we released our blog last week. We hope you are able to join in the fun!
St. Nicholas Breakfast
Who doesn’t enjoy breakfast with Saint Nick? Our parish Church of the Nativity in Fair Haven, NJ, is hosting a breakfast or an afternoon snack (yes, it’s cookies!) for families. All you need to do is sign up ahead of time for head count and keeping it a safe group size. For more information, or to sign up, check out our online form here https://forms.parishgiving.org/form-4384168/
Pocketbook BINGO
Well, the name says it all! Calling all handbag lovers, this is your event! Saint Catherine’s in Blauvelt, NY, is hosting the event. It is a BYOB so a perfect lady’s night out. There is limited seating so be sure to sign up! Here is our online form with additional details https://forms.parishgiving.org/form-5029333/
Pasta Dinner
Or as Our Lady of Hope in West Long Branch, NJ calls it Pasta with a Purpose! All the proceeds went towards new uniforms and equipment for St. Jerome School. All dinners were individually wrapped and delivered to your car. Although it didn’t bring a group together, it did bring families together for a nice evening meal! And the money went towards a good cause.
Advent Wreath Craft
We are crafty people in this office. We love creating new items with different supplies we have lying around. An Advent Wreath is the perfect kind of craft since it serves a purpose afterwards. One of our parishes is providing the supplies and you can then construct your own Advent Wreath. It is a keepsake that will be around for years to come.
Although there are numerous other ways our parishes are bringing their parishioners together, we thought this was a great start. We can see the connections between people grow and communities growing stronger because of it! Let us know how your events have turned out. We hope your activities and events bring someone out of isolation and into a comforting place.
