PG: How can churches become more involved with Veterans Day?

FM: Christ the Redeemer Parish has a display in front of the altar to honor men and women from all branches of the service. We also have family members submit photographs and details about their loved ones, which we use in a PowerPoint while music is playing. It means a lot to them veterans and their families. Of course, we also offer a blessing to all vets.

PG: What  does being a veteran mean to you?

FM: I am proud to be a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. The Marines instilled in me and abiding sense of duty to God, country and Corps—in that order.  In a selfie society as narcissistic as ours, we need more veterans imbued with a drive for selfless service.
